Jean Baudrillard

Jean Baudrillard came up in conversations with some people several times this week.
Prof. Stephen Zaima recommended me to get a copy of "America" which I'm reading right now.
However, he said it is a photo book. Maybe he meant "Photographies 1985-1998" I cannot find any book of his that features his photographs of America. The book "America" is very interesting. Ii's written in very poetic language and his descriptions of America as primitive society caught my attention.

Also the other day, in a conversation with Jen Davis, she recommended me to take a look at Sophie Calle's Project where she followed a stranger on the street and photographed. This book is called "Please Follow Me" and Jean Baudrillard also wrote for the book. This book is rare and very expensive but I can read some materials here. MFA

After three years of studying photography in Syracuse University, I finally received a degree of Master of Fine Arts.

I’m not sure how important this degree is. The degree do not bring me any kind of assurance for anything. It probably means different things to different people.

I discovered how much I like teaching through 3 years of teaching fundamental photography class in Syracuse. I was excited to talk about photography and students were eager to discover what they can do with photography. I would like to teach again. In that case, the degree would be necessary.

However, for me, this degree means most in terms of my growth as an artist.

I think I came into the program as very immature artist compared to the others. I could not even call myself an artist then. I was just following the path of artists who influenced me. I did not know how to read art or talk about art.

My professors and colleagues guided me to learn a language of art.

I’m excited about art as ever. The time I spent in MFA program in Syracuse University was the most meaningful time of my life.

From Back Home by Anders Petersen & JH Engstrom

I just ordered this book, "From Back Home" by Anders Petersen & JH Engstrom.
I was at Dashwood Books Yesterday and the guy there told me about this book.
He said it is really good but has been sold out very quickly.
I came back to Syracuse and googles it.
The Photo Eye bookstore has book teaser and I fell in love with the image and couldn't resist buying it.
I can't wait to see all of the images.

I stopped by at this bookstore in Santa Fe, NM, during the road trip this summer.
I found this book "101 Billionaires" by Rob Hornstraat at this bookstore .
It is quite amazing.

Then, Today I happened to google this book by JH Ehgstrom and Andreas Petersen "From Home"
and found photo eye website. It is a great database for grants, awards and fellowship as well as a good online bookstore.
